3 Steps to Organize Your Socks and Undies

This week’s organizing focus is your (or someone else’s) SOCKS + UNDIES DRAWER.

Your challenge this week is to follow 3 steps to organize your socks and undies. Start with your own socks and undies drawer – if you don’t keep them in a drawer, or don’t have socks and undies together, choose one or the other and follow the same steps. If you feel really motivated, organize more than one drawer. Kids home? Have them sort and organize their own socks and undies – give them a little direction and help if needed.

The easiest way to start this process is to start by emptying your drawer. I find that completely clearing and cleaning out any space is the best way to organize it once and for all. If you need some type of drawer organizer to keep your drawer a little neater, plan to purchase that this week as well.

  • Completely empty the drawer and wipe clean. It’s so helpful to get everything out of a space before organizing it so you can see what your space really looks like.
  • Toss any socks or undies that have seen better days, don’t have matches, don’t fit, etc. If there’s something that you’ve been holding on to and haven’t worn it in 6 months to a year, get rid of it.
  • Group like items together – I use small lidded shoeboxes (without the lids) in all of our drawers to keep the socks and undies sorted. Once you’ve grouped like items together, you can put everything back in your drawer. Fold neatly or just toss in a box or small bin. Whatever works for your style. I prefer a more contained approach – socks get folded together and tossed in a bin, undies all go in a bin (not always folded), etc.
